Internet 101 Part 1

A domain name is an identification string that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control on the Internet. Domain names are formed by the rules and procedures of the Domain Name System (DNS).

URL - Uniform Resource Locator

Definition: When you go to a Web page, the URL of that page is everything that is showing up in the address window of your browser including the http:// and all that comes after it.

Examples: If I give you the URL of my Web site you will be able to come see what I've done with it.

The World Wide Web (abbreviated as WWW or W3, commonly known as the Web), is a system of interlinked hypertext documents accessed via the Internet. With a web browser, one can view web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia, and navigate between them via hyperlinks.

The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is an application protocol for distributed, collaborative, hypermedia information systems. HTTP is the foundation of data communication for the World Wide Web.
